Castaways on the latest episode of "Survivor" Season 47 had a rare treat when they were given the opportunity to interact with other tribes before the merge.
In Episode 5, titled "The Scales Be Tippin," the three tribes competed in a reward challenge in which they were split into two groups and ran an obstacle course to win a cookout at the "Survivor" sanctuary. Only one group, consisting of members from Tuku, Lavo and Gata, won the reward and the chance to conspire with members they hadn't yet met.
After the reward, castaways were sent back to their original tribes and competed in an immunity challenge, where one tribe lost and someone was sent home.
Season 47 of the long-running CBS reality competition show has had a strong start with relatively equal competition, flashy twists and advantages, and memorable characters.
Here's who was voted out in "Survivor" Season 47, Episode 5.

Who went home on 'Survivor' Season 47, Episode 5?
After the reward challenge, Sam Phalen and Rachel LaMont were the lucky Gata members who made it to the Sanctuary reward, where they downplayed their stragetic alliances with their tribe members to other castaways.
But in the immunity challenge, Gata was not so lucky, coming in last in an obstacle course that involved cutting a rope, carrying a heavy net filled with coconuts and knocking down blocks and rebuilding them. Even after their successful negotiation with host Jeff Probst for eggs in exchange for their previously won chickens, their third-place finish lost them their flint (and ability to make fire), and earned them a trip to tribal council.
Phalen conspired with alliance members Sierra Wright and Andy Rueda to take out Anika Dhar, much to the surprise of LaMont, who thought the tribe was in agreement to vote Rueda out.
Dhar was similarly blindsided, asking the tribe who orchestrated the vote and crying on her way out of the game.
Who went home last week on 'Survivor'?
The Lavo tribe came in last during the immunity challenge, and members Genevieve Mushaluk, Rome Cooney, Kishan Patel, Solomon "Sol" Yi and Teeny Chirichillo were forced to vote one of their own out.
Cooney had a "steal a vote" advantage, and Chirichillo had taken a risk earlier in the episode and lost a vote. At first, Yi thought he was definitely going home because of his adversarial relationship with Cooney, but that was not the plan for other tribe members.
At tribal council, a majority (thanks to Cooney's two votes from the "steal a vote" advantage) of players voted for Patel, a 28-year-old ER doctor from San Francisco, to exit the game.
